Open Label Follow-Up Study Of Glatiramer Acetate (Copaxone) In Relapsing-Remitting MS
Status:
Closed for Enrollment. Study Ongoing.
Sponsors:
Teva Neurosciences
Type of Study and Brief Description:
We began this study in 1994 to monitor patients treated at our center with Copaxone for relapsing-remitting MS, as participants in a large, multicenter Phase II trial that ran from 1991-1994. Copaxone is a synthetic mixture of amino acids that is believed to control only those immune activities that cause damage to myelin, the material that insulates nerves. This continuation of the monitoring “phase” of this trial provides valuable information about the long term effects of Copaxone, indicated by measures of quality of life, neurologic health, and serial brain MRI scanning.
